Three generations,
three business models

Tradition at the Hotel Glöcklhofer

As a Josef Gloecklhofer acquired what was then an agricultural property on the Ludwigsberg, he also took over a "front-loading business": coachmen and drivers of other teams could borrow additional draft animals from him and hitch them to their carts to compensate for the considerable difference between the old town of Burghausen and the present-day area to cope with the new town.

After World War II Josef Gloecklhofer Jr opened a butcher shop in the same place. In addition, he continued to expand the existing hotel until 1984. The house burned down almost to the ground in 2005 under the leadership of a tenant.

Martin Gloecklhofer, who had worked in renowned houses such as Intercontinental and Arabella Sheraton - most recently as Director of Food & Beverage - decided to continue the family tradition. In 2006 he began to rebuild. The new hotel was opened in July 2007 - and finally completed in 2008 by the Aurea Spa.
